Personal web sites for these amazing women are listed below!
The best writers' group in Texas! On a summer afternoon in 2001 at an old Texas mansion, a group of women from Fredericksburg, Texas lounged in high-back, wooden rocking chairs on the wide porch overlooking the Guadalupe River. We were participants in a writers' retreat sponsored by Lamb's Tale Ministries that featured national author and speaker Jane Rubietta. Some of us had enjoyed minor publishing credits while others were in the 'thinking about writing' mode. All wanted to 'hone their craft.'
As we rocked, sipped iced tea, and got to know the writer side of each other, one woman said, "We need a local writers' group."
Another said, "If you'll start one, I'll come."
Five others echoed, "Yeah, me, too!"
The first woman (guess who!) sent invites, all the others came, and Hill Country Women of Words writing group was birthed.
We "WOW" gals range in age from the early thirties to the mid seventies, we write in all genres while following our faith, our meetings average nine to fifteen writers, and we've met every month for seven years.
A couple of years ago, we added a weekly daytime intensive dubbed TWiG - - Tuesday Writers Inspiration Group.
The WOW's writing flame has erupted into a beautiful bonfire!
The WOW web-site is mastered by member, Sally Clark. It contains a wealth of information, great encouragement, and you'll meet talented writers. Drop by their site: www.hcwomenofwords.org
